Cribbage Boards
One-of-one reclaimed wood cribbage boards with magnetic peg storage.
These 2-track and 3-track cribbage boards are made from retired railway boxcar flooring. The hard maple flooring was salvaged from train cars in the southwest US and has probably traveled millions of miles across the country over decades. Each board has a unique story and look. The peg holes are standard 1/8” diameter that will fit any regular cribbage peg, as well as our unique custom pegs. Each track is 60 holes.
- The middle section of the board features corner markings to place a card deck while playing (cards not included).
- Score keeping holes in the middle section of the board for tracking wins with the use of a third peg.
- The underside of the board features peg storage with a 2.5” smooth steel lid held in place with neodymium magnets.
Sizes & Specs
- 2-track boards are approximately 12″ x 6.75″ x 2.25″ thick and weight about 5 lbs.
- 3-track boards are slightly wider at 12″ x 7.75″ x 2.25″ and weight about 6 lbs.
These are beefy, strong, hunks of American hardwood! The individual wood slats separate when cut from the longer boards that lined the boxcar floor, so each piece has to be individually cleaned and assembled back into a solid block. The cribbage boards are hand sanded and super smooth—with most crevices and imperfections filled (except for the top, which has been left a bit more raw). The holes are drilled by hand on a drill press (no automated CNC!) in a two-step process for a nicely chamfered hole that eases peg placement and hole visibility in the dark areas of wood. The wood is hand rubbed with a dark, all-natural, US-made tung oil finish. Tung oil is plant-based, non-toxic, and food safe — it leaves a durable, smooth, satin finish.
The start-to-finish process on these boards is complex and lengthy, but the result is a gorgeous, handmade, heirloom one-of-a-kind board. No plastics or resin! No mass-production CNC, just good ole fashioned sawing, drilling , and hand sanding. Natural oil finish with no VOCs.
